Birds and Migration (Grades 3-5)

There's a mystery in the sky every spring and fall: billions of birds on the move, and almost no one notices. The Feather Scout Society is recruiting — and [Scout Captain Wren] needs your student to help track where the birds go. Over 10 missions (about two weeks), students follow real migration routes across the map, collect and graph their own backyard bird data, measure the astonishing distances birds travel, and uncover how feathers, wings, and instinct make those journeys possible. The work is genuinely cross-subject: map scale and geography, distance and measurement, graphing, and a little fractions and ratios. Printable and low-prep (you supply colored pencils; binoculars optional), with a full answer key.
